Choosing Your Exam Center: Read This Carefully!
This is a crucial step that many applicants overlook.
- There are 11 exam centers available across Karnataka.
- For 18 subjects (like Commerce, Kannada, History, etc.), you can choose any of the 11 centers. These centers are: Bangaluru, Belagavi, Bellary, Vijayapura, Davangere, Dharwad, Kalaburgi, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Tumkur, and Mangaluru.
- However, for the remaining 15 subjects (like Geography, Law, Mass Communication, etc.), you MUST select BENGALURU as your only exam center.
The Path to Qualification: How Results Are Declared
Qualifying for the KSET involves a multi-step process based on UGC guidelines. The KEA’s decisions in this regard are final and binding.
- Step 1: The 6% Rule: The total number of candidates who will be declared qualified for Assistant Professorship will be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared in both Paper-I and Paper-II of the KSET.
- Step 2: Minimum Qualifying Marks: To be considered for the merit list, candidates must first secure a minimum aggregate percentage across both papers.
- General Category: A minimum of 40% aggregate marks in the two papers taken together.
- Reserved Categories (SC, ST, OBC, PwD, Transgender): A minimum of 35% aggregate marks in the two papers taken together.
- Step 3: Merit List and Slot Allocation: After clearing Step 2, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise based on the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates. The 6% total slots are then distributed among different subjects and categories based on the reservation policy of the Karnataka state government and a specific formula provided by the UGC.
